The first vaccines are earmarked for health care workers in patient care settings, long-term care facility workers, and the residents most at risk in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. Staff members at every hospital in the state are supposed to have access to the first vaccine allocations.
Where can I get a vaccine?
It’s only available in hospitals, and long-term care facilities during phase 1. As the vaccine becomes more widely available and the plan moves into subsequent phases, the New York plan includes other vaccination sites at community health centers, rural health clinics, private provider offices, and local health departments. In addition, New York health officials are planning to work with commercial and independent pharmacies, businesses, and other organizations, including schools, homeless shelters, and correction facilities to enable on-site vaccination. Mobile vaccination units should be available across the state to access hard-to-reach communities.
