A resolution governing the distribution of the $3,823,000 in new, one-time funds for school-based health centers in the 2018-19 State Budget was passed by the NYS Assembly. Data provided by the Division of the Budget and the NYS DOH was received by the Assembly and reviewed by NYSBHA and GNYHA. After discussions with Assemblyman Gottfried and the Speaker’s staff for the Ways and Means Committee, distribution amounts were determined.

This funding benefits SBHC sponsors whose grants funds were disproportionately reduced due to the combination of a 20% cut in the final 2017-18 State budget, and a subsequent administrative action resulting in funding losses ranging from 25% to 70% of total grants funds.

The Assembly drafted Resolution 1423 lining out funding allocations and adopted it late on Wednesday, June 20th. Resolution with funding amounts is available here: ASSEMBLY GRANTEE RESOS

Thank you Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, NYS Assembly and Health Committee Chair Richard Gottfried for supporting school-based health centers and the children they serve!

Special thanks to Andy Title, on behalf of Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), and Shauneen McNally of Reid, McNally & Savage LLC for their guidance and technical assistance securing these funding amounts in the last days of session.

NYSBHA is very grateful for all of their support!
