NYSBHA’s executive director, Sarah Murphy, joined Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY 20), Hometown Health CEO Joe Gambino, Mont Pleasant SBHC’s Ashley Kennedy, Schenectady CSD Superintendent Dr. Larry Spring and sbhc/ csd staff to tour Mont Pleasant Middle School’s school-based health center followed by a round table discussion.

The focus of the discussion was the provision of mental health care in schools and federal SBHC reauthorization legislation, which Tonko, a longtime supporter of mental health parity, has signed onto along with NY Congressmen Faso (R-NY 19), champion of the legislation, Eliot Engel (D-NY 16) and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY 9).
